I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication at the University of Washington, Seattle. My research centers on how communication environments influence social democracy, with particular attention to multimedia dynamics and mechanisms of media/message effects. I have examined factors that impede a more engaging and inclusive society and how to enhance civic culture on digital media platforms to break stereotypes and foster healthy ideas and opinion-sharing, employing quantitative methods, including surveys, experiments, content analysis, social media listening, and computational methods.
